Phil Handy, currently assistant coach at the Los Angeles Lakers, has shred his impressions of working with LeBron James. The two worked together in Cleveland and are now re-united in LA. Handy denied the notion that James is a ‘coach killer’.

According to him, it’s quite the contrary – The King is one of the most coachable players he has ever worked with. In fact, LeBron wants direction from his coaches. But, at the same time, he is a leader and wants leadership in the team.

Per Brandon ‘Scopp B’ Robinson of Heavy:

“There was a lot media that said ‘Bron’s the coach, he’s this, he’s a coach killer, he runs the team and blah blah blah…they would be so wrong in their assessments and they would have so much more respect for T-Lue and they would have so much more respect for LeBron in the sense that he’s probably one of the most coachable dudes that I have been around in the sense of how he approaches the game and WANTING leadership. He wants direction from his coaches and he’s one of those players.”

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar earned the reputation of a coach killer when he returned to Cleveland and had to work with David Blatt. Despite reaching the NBA Finals on his reunion with the Cavaliers, LeBron was not happy with Blatt to whom it was his first NBA experience after years of coaching in Europe. Early in the second season, Blatt got fired and replaced with Tyronn Lue.
