Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade has reflected on his relationship with LeBron James during the franchise’s Big Three era, explaining how mutual accountability helped them maintain a strong partnership.

Wade emphasized that he and James understood the importance of accepting criticism from one another and preventing outside influences from affecting their relationship.

“We’re going to hold each other accountable. Like, you got to be able to take criticism from me. I got to be able to take criticism from you. We can’t let nothing come between us. We can’t let nobody break us.”

According to Wade, that understanding extended beyond their interactions on the court. The two stars made a conscious effort to present a united front, regardless of whether the Heat were winning or struggling.

Wade explained that this was one of the reasons he and James regularly appeared together during postgame press conferences.

By facing questions together after both successful and disappointing performances, they demonstrated their commitment to supporting one another and sharing responsibility for the team’s results.

“Nobody was going to break us when we were together. And that was a covenant that we sat and we stuck to that.”
