Turkish Airlines Euroleague debutant Bayern Munich added a low-post threat to its attack with the signing of Deon Thompson.

The power forward arrives from fellow German team Alba Berlin. Thompson (2.03 meters, 24 years old) averaged 12 points and 5.4 rebounds in 23 Euroleague games last season.

He was top 10 in the regular season in both scoring (14.7 ppg.) and rebounding (6.2 rpg.) last season and ranked sixth in performance index rating (17.6). It was his second Euroleague campaign after making an impressive debut in 2011-12 with Union Olimpija Ljubljana.

He helped Olimpija win the 2012 Slovenian Cup. Thompson started his professional career with Ikaros Kallitheasin Greece in the 2010-11 season.

Thompson enjoyed a successful college basketball career at the University of North Carolina, where he helped the Tar Heels to win the NCAA Tournament title in 2009 and reach the final four in 2008. Thompson also lifted back-to-back Atlantic Coast Conference titles in 2007 and 2008 and played for the United States’ under-19 and under-21 national teams.
