TalkBasket’s Euroleague team profiles continue with Group D side, Partizan.

Introduction: Partizan’s heroics in 2010 remain their best efforts in the Euroleague over the last few years. The Serbian champions went out in heartbreaking fashion last season, by losing to EA7 Milano in Belgrade and that defeat still hurts. This season is a fresh chance though to make amends and try to aim higher than the group stages, they have a new-look team and are raring to go.

Coach: Dusko Vujosevic returns to Belgrade after two years away, he previously coached at CSKA Moscow before taking a year-long break. He has a new-look team to lead and fresh ideas to bring back to his home club.

He is the popular choice and a favourite with the fans after leading them to the Final Four in Paris back in 2010. He will try to emulate that success against all odds this season.

Key Player: Partizan have the youngest roster in the Euroleague and 23-year-old Dragan Milosavljevic is proof of this being the more experienced Euroleague player on the team. But Milosavljevic can provide Partizan with an offensive threat and also mark out the opposition’s key player. He will be a key man for the Serbs this year.

Breakout Player: There are many young stars that can shine this season but shy looking center Dejan Musli will look to breakthrough and make a name for himself this season.

He already has Euroleague experience, albeit a few minutes with Caja Laboral but with his pedigree in the Nike International Junior Tournament, plus his success with the Serbian national junior sides, Musli will look to stamp his mark on this season’s Euroleague.

Biggest Euroleague Moment: There have been many successes for Parrtizan in the old Yugoslavia but the incredible run in 2010, leading to a Final Four appearance stands out to many.

They lost games to Olympiacos and then to CSKA Moscow both in overtime and that Final Four introduced the basketball world to a certain Bo McCalebb. The performances were unforgettable, despite both being losses and it made Paris 2010 one of the most exciting Final Fours in recent memory.
