After his team’s win over Olympiacos in the first EuroLeague round in 2020, with a score 96:87, Kostas Sloukas emphasized in the importance of Fenerbahce’s victory.

“It is a very important win for us. We controlled the rhythm of the game today and played pretty good basketball. So we 100 percent deserved to win this game.”

Fenerbahce only played with eight players in the match against Olympiacos, but, even with a lot of problems Željko Obradović’s team is facing, no one on the court gave up in the crucial moments of the match.

And one of the team leaders was the “Greek Magic” (Kostas Sloukas), who played more than 33 minutes.

“Not me, but all players on the court were great tonight. It was a team win. We are missing some players, but we showed tonight, that we will continue to fight no matter what.”

The newbie Malcolm Thomas already adopted the team system, and according to Kostas Sloukas, helped a team a lot.

“Malcolm did an incredible job today, after only first practice. He immediately understood our mentality and how we play the basketball”, said Sloukas about his new teammate.

Kostas Sloukas finished the match with 14 points and 9 assists, but a three-point shot was a highlight of his evening. At the end of the first quarter, the Greek guard managed to score a buzzer beater from the half of the court. When he was asked to comment on that shot, his answer was: “Oh, that was amazing. I shot the ball and it went in. I would say that this was a luck,” said Sloukas who was assured that the shot was a lucky one, even though, in his All Decade Nominee’ video, he was introduced with a similar shot, but wearing Olympiacos’ colors.

It was luck because I’ve never practiced it”, finished Kostas Sloukas his interview with TalkBasket.net.
