Jose “Piculin” Ortiz has been arrested after a significant amount of marijuana was found at his home.

 

 

The former Real Madrid and Barcelona player has been arrested and is charged with the possession of 218 marijuana plants and some AR-15 rifles and ammunition.

The former Puerto Rican international is additionally charged with intention to distribute the $150.000 worth of drugs while the judge has ordered him to attend a detox clinic for his drugs addiction problem.

Ortiz was represented by a public defender as he claimed that he could not afford a private attorney. His arrest was a part of an operation which aimed to dismantle a drug trafficking network in Old San Juan. {jathumbnail off}

If found guilty he could be sentenced to up to 40 years in prison. The preliminary hearing has been set for July 26.
