LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne has encountered another financial setback early in the 2026–27 EuroLeague season, with the club currently unable to register additional players due to a Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT) sanction.
The restriction stems from an unresolved payment dispute involving former center Joffrey Lauvergne, who is reportedly still owed €300,000 by the French organization.
ASVEL failed to complete two consecutive installments under an existing agreement, leading to the latest disciplinary action.
The situation adds to the club’s financial difficulties following an offseason marked by significant budget reductions and several premature player departures.
Those adjustments forced management to restructure much of the roster, while the new registration ban now prevents further additions until the dispute is settled.
Meanwhile, Tony Parker’s team has started the EuroLeague campaign with a 1-1 record, sharing seventh place with seven other clubs.
ASVEL is scheduled to host Valencia at LDLC Arena on Friday as part of the competition’s first double-game week.
