Anthony Davis had his left hand injury reevaluated Thursday in Los Angeles, and while the Washington Wizards say his recovery is progressing positively, the ligament (volar plate) has not fully healed yet.

For now, he will continue with conservative treatment and gradually increase his basketball activity, with another evaluation set for the end of March.

After acquiring Davis at the trade deadline, there were mixed expectations about whether he would return this season, though general manager Will Dawkins has suggested a comeback before the April 12 finale is possible.

With Washington near the bottom of the standings, there’s little urgency, but the team may still want its veteran additions to build chemistry with the young core.

Davis has played 20 games this season, all with Dallas, averaging 20.4 points and 11.1 rebounds. A late-season return remains possible, though not guaranteed.
