Olympiacos Piraeus continued its control of the Greek EuroLeague rivalry with an 86-80 victory over Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens on Friday, March 6, at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.
The win marked Olympiacos’s 11th consecutive triumph over its Athens rival and improved the team to 19-10 in the 2025-26 EuroLeague season. Panathinaikos fell to 16-14 after struggling to protect the ball and close the game in the final minutes.
Olympiacos secured the result despite missing key contributors Thomas Walkup, Sasha Vezenkov and Monte Morris due to injury.
The home side relied on depth to overcome those absences, with all 10 players who entered the game scoring. Eight Olympiacos players finished with at least eight points.
Tyler Dorsey led the scoring with 13 points, hitting 3-of-4 from three-point range, including two key shots late in the fourth quarter.
Frank Ntilikina and Cory Joseph added 10 points each while helping contain Panathinaikos star Kendrick Nunn. Joseph also contributed four assists and two rebounds.
Nikola Milutinov added 12 points and four rebounds as Olympiacos maintained efficiency inside, finishing 19-of-30 from two-point range.
Olympiacos built its early advantage with defense, holding Panathinaikos to 13 points in the first quarter and 16 in the second.
Panathinaikos responded with a strong third quarter, outscoring the hosts 27-18 to cut the deficit and turn the game into a close contest.
Nunn finished with 20 points for Panathinaikos, while Cedi Osman and Juancho Hernangomez added 14 points each.
The visitors created opportunities late but committed 17 turnovers, six more than their season average.
Olympiacos capitalized on those mistakes with 21 points off turnovers and collected 10 steals, including two each from Ntilikina, Joseph and Shaquielle McKissic.
When Nunn trimmed the margin to 67-63 late in the fourth quarter, Dorsey responded with back-to-back three-pointers that restored momentum for the hosts and pushed the lead to seven.
Panathinaikos could not recover as Olympiacos controlled the final possessions to secure the derby win.
The result reinforced Olympiacos’s position near the top of the EuroLeague standings and highlighted the depth of Bartzokas’s roster.
Olympiacos will travel to face AS Monaco next Thursday, while Panathinaikos returns home to host Zalgiris Kaunas.
