Zalgiris Kaunas ended a nine-game losing streak against Olympiacos Piraeus with a dramatic 99-94 double-overtime win on Wednesday night at Zalgirio Arena in the EuroLeague.

The Lithuanian club, which had not beaten the Greek side since 2021, improved to 17-12 and strengthened its playoff position, while Olympiacos fell to 18-10 after its second overtime loss of the season.

The contest swung for 50 minutes and featured 10 extra minutes of high-level execution, with both teams trading leads deep into the second overtime.

Nigel Williams-Goss and Sylvain Francisco carried the hosts when margins tightened.

Williams-Goss scored a career-high 23 points, including 11 across the two overtime periods, and hit four three-pointers, while Francisco matched him with 23 points and seven assists.

The backcourt duo combined for 21 points in overtime as Zalgiris found answers against one of the league’s most efficient defenses.

Moses Wright anchored the interior with 14 points and a career-best 13 rebounds, helping the home side offset a 52-42 rebounding deficit.

Both Williams-Goss and Wright joined Zalgiris in the offseason from Olympiacos.

The Greek giants entered the game without Sasha Vezenkov and Nikola Milutinov, yet still controlled stretches through defensive discipline.

The Reds held Zalgiris to 73 points at the end of regulation and forced 13 turnovers overall.

Evan Fournier delivered a career-high 32 points, shooting 5-of-9 from three-point range and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.

He trimmed the deficit to one point late in the second overtime after drilling a triple, but Williams-Goss responded with his fourth three of the night and split free throws to seal the outcome.

Alec Peters briefly gave Olympiacos an 87-82 edge early in the second overtime, and Maodo Lo later pushed the margin to 93-89 with a three.

Zalgiris answered with an 8-2 burst sparked by Francisco’s long-range shot and five straight points from Williams-Goss.

The hosts shot 40 percent from beyond the arc, converting 12-of-30 attempts, and registered 18 assists on 35 made field goals.

Their ability to generate perimeter offense in overtime proved decisive.

Zalgiris now heads into a challenging stretch with renewed momentum, while Olympiacos returns to Greece preparing for the derby against Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens.
