Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry will be sidelined for at least five more games due to a persistent right knee injury, NBA insider Shams Charania reported Thursday. The 37-year-old will be re-evaluated in 10 days to determine his readiness to return.

Curry has not played since January 30 and has appeared in 39 games this season, averaging 27.2 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per contest while shooting 46.8% from the field and 39.1% from three-point range. His absence has coincided with a 6-11 record in games the Warriors have played without him.

Thursday night, Golden State fell 121-110 to the Boston Celtics at Chase Center, despite 18 points from De’Anthony Melton and 17 each from Gui Santos and Will Richard. Kristaps Porzingis, making his Warriors debut after the trade deadline, added 12 points in 17 minutes.

The Warriors trailed by 30 in the second quarter but rallied in the fourth, cutting the deficit to 111-99 before the Celtics held on. Boston shot 52% overall and made 43% of its 3-pointers, while outrebounding Golden State 54-40. Jaylen Brown posted a triple-double with 23 points, 15 rebounds, and 13 assists to lead the Celtics.

Golden State faces a stretch of challenging matchups without Curry, hosting the Denver Nuggets on Sunday before traveling to New Orleans and Memphis later in the week. The team sits eighth in the Western Conference at 29-26, just 12.5 games behind the conference leader Oklahoma City Thunder.

With Golden State scheduled to play six games over the next 10 days, the upcoming evaluation will determine whether Curry can return to lead the team during a critical Western Conference stretch.
