Luka Doncic spoke candidly about his health, All-Star emotions and scoring limits during Saturday’s media session, one day before the 2026 NBA All-Star Game at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
The Los Angeles Lakers guard, selected as a starter for Team World, enters the break with his club at 33-21 and fifth in the Western Conference.
Doncic has missed the last four games for the Lakers, but he indicated progress in his recovery.
“I feel pretty good. You know, I’ve been working to get to get back,” he said. “You know, obviously wanted to play the last game, but it wasn’t possible. I was almost there.”
He added: “So I think I will play a little bit.”
When asked in jest whether he would try to dunk on teammate LeBron James during the exhibition, the Slovenian was direct.
“And no, I will not try to dunk on LeBron.”
The 75th edition of the All-Star Game introduces a USA vs. the World round-robin format, featuring three teams and 12-minute games, with the top two advancing to a championship matchup.
For Doncic, the focus remains on the experience rather than individual theatrics.
“I’ll just say the game,” he said when asked about his favorite part of the weekend. “You know, playing with the best guys in the world.”
He continued: “You know, just being there, like I said, taking the moment in and just enjoy it.”
This marks his first All-Star appearance as a Laker after being traded to Los Angeles, and his sixth selection overall.
“I mean, every all-star, you know, just blessed and, you know, I’m going to look back at it,” he said. “You know, I’m six time all-star now and not everybody can say they’re all star.”
He added: “So, just take everything into the moment and enjoy this.”
Doncic also addressed an ambitious statistical milestone when asked whether scoring 100 points in a game is realistic.
“I don’t know. I don’t think so,” he said. “Scored 73 and it it was a lot. It felt like every shot went in and the 100 is just it’s just too much.”
The comment reflects basketball reality, as even high-usage stars require extreme efficiency and pace to approach triple-digit scoring.
During a lighter exchange about his favorite teammate, Doncic declined to single anyone out.
“All of them. Not one in particular,” he said.
He also declined to discuss a reported investment possibility involving an NBA Europe team.
“No, I can’t really talk about that. You know, we’re here for All-Star and I really want to talk about All-Star.”
