The Philadelphia 76ers have traded rookie guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for a 2026 Houston Rockets first-round pick and three second-round selections, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

Charania reported, “BREAKING: The Philadelphia 76ers are trading guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a 2026 Rockets first-round pick and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.” He added in another tweet, “76ers are receiving the following second-round picks from the Thunder, sources said: 2027 (most favorable OKC/HOU/IND/MIA), 2028 MIL, 2028 OKC.”

The move comes as Philadelphia holds a 29–21 record, sixth in the Eastern Conference, while Oklahoma City leads the West at 40–11. Both teams enter the deal from different competitive timelines, with the Sixers focused on roster balance and the Thunder adding perimeter depth to a contender.

McCain, 21, averaged 6.6 points in 16.8 minutes across 37 games, shooting 37.8 percent from three-point range. His role fluctuated behind Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, limiting consistent on-ball opportunities within a guard-heavy rotation.

Oklahoma City gains another shooting option to place alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is averaging 31.8 points, and a lineup built on pace and ball movement.

The Thunder’s depth at guard includes Jalen Williams, Isaiah Joe, Cason Wallace and Alex Caruso. Oklahoma City has relied on strong defensive pressure and transition scoring, and another floor spacer could help maintain offensive flow during staggered rotations.

For Philadelphia, acquiring a future first-round pick from Houston adds valuable long-term capital without disrupting a core that includes Embiid, Paul George and Maxey. The Sixers have won seven of their last ten games and remain positioned within the playoff race.
