Still, his long-term outlook with the organization remains unclear, as James is playing on a $52.6 million expiring contract after re-signing in the 2024 offseason on a two-year, $104 million deal.
James also holds a full no-trade clause, meaning any potential trade would require his direct approval.
At this point, there has been no clear signal from James regarding whether he plans to continue his NBA career into the 2026-27 season or step away from the game.
Those around the situation indicate that James himself has not yet made a final decision.
If James does choose to play next season, the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, and Golden State Warriors are viewed as realistic landing spots, with all three teams actively exploring trade options ahead of the deadline.
Now 41 years old, James is averaging 21.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.6 assists this season.
