AS Monaco strengthened its backcourt on Thursday, December 4, announcing the signing of veteran guard Cory Joseph as the club continues its push up the EuroLeague standings.
Joseph, 34, joins a roster sitting fifth at 8–5 and will make his EuroLeague debut after 14 seasons in the NBA.
Monaco turned to the experienced playmaker to stabilize a rotation built around Mike James, Alpha Diallo, and Daniel Theis. The club’s guard line has leaned heavily on James’ scoring and creation, and Joseph adds a steady presence with more than 860 career NBA games.
Joseph most recently played for the Orlando Magic, averaging 3.5 points and 1.4 assists in 12.2 minutes across 50 games during the 2024–25 season.
His NBA résumé includes stops with San Antonio, Toronto, Indiana, Sacramento, Detroit, Golden State, and Orlando, where he provided reliable ballhandling and perimeter defense.
The Canadian guard won an NBA championship with the Spurs in 2014 and delivered several strong seasons as a rotation player, including a career-high 12.0 points per game with Detroit in 2020–21.
He brings playoff experience as well, appearing in 87 postseason games and contributing at multiple stages, including deep runs with the Spurs and Raptors.
Monaco enters this week averaging 88.2 points per game while shooting 57.3% from inside the arc and 32.8% from three.
James leads the team with 16.5 points and 6.6 assists per game, while Diallo adds 12.5 points on efficient shooting and Theis contributes 11.0 points with strong interior production.
The addition of Joseph gives Monaco another organizer in half-court sets and an option to relieve James, who logs nearly 30 minutes per night.
The club ranks fourth in point differential at +81 and enters the weekend at 6–4 in its last 10 games.
