Dillon Brooks led the Phoenix Suns with 33 points, while Collin Gillespie added a career-high 28 points, including eight 3-pointers, to power Phoenix past the Los Angeles Lakers 125-108 on Monday night at Crypto.com Arena.
Devin Booker exited early with a right groin injury, but the Suns surged without their leading scorer, forcing 22 turnovers and building a 21-point lead in the third quarter. Brooks scored 23 points on 11-of-16 shooting in the first half, taking control offensively.
Gillespie dominated in the fourth, hitting 16 points including multiple long-range shots that extended the lead. Royce O’Neale contributed six points, seven rebounds, and 11 assists, helping Phoenix share the ball efficiently.
Luka Doncic scored 38 points for the Lakers and Austin Reaves added 16, but Los Angeles struggled with fatigue, playing their third home game in four nights. LeBron James finished with 10 points, preserving his streak of 1,297 consecutive games scoring in double digits.
Phoenix shot 57 percent from the field and 44 percent from three, while the Lakers managed just 51 percent overall and 39 percent from deep. The Suns also had a 33-29 advantage on the boards.
The Lakers led briefly early, but the Suns took control midway through the first quarter after Booker’s exit and never looked back. Phoenix’s bench production, combined with timely shooting from Brooks and Gillespie, proved decisive.
The win improves the Suns to 13-9 and snaps their recent three-loss slide. Los Angeles falls to 15-5, ending their seven-game winning streak and facing a tough challenge in maintaining momentum.
Phoenix will visit Houston on Friday, while the Lakers travel to Toronto on Thursday for their next matchup.
