Victor Wembanyama recorded 27 points, 18 rebounds, six assists, and five blocks to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 107–101 victory over the Miami Heat at Frost Bank Center on Thursday night. The win marked the first time in franchise history the Spurs started a season 5-0.
Stephon Castle added 21 points, eight assists, and six rebounds, while Devin Vassell contributed 17 points as San Antonio had six players score in double figures. The Spurs overcame a depleted Miami roster and withstood a late surge in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Bam Adebayo led the Heat with 31 points and 10 rebounds, with Andrew Wiggins adding 24 points. Despite missing Norman Powell, Tyler Herro, Kasparas Jakucionis, and Nikola Jovic, Miami rallied with a 17-1 run in the first 4:35 of the fourth quarter, but San Antonio closed the game on an 8-3 run.
Wembanyama extended his streak to 90 consecutive games with at least one block, the fourth-longest in NBA history. Late in the game, he energized the fans with a powerful presence on the court following a foul by Wiggins with 14.6 seconds remaining.
San Antonio’s depth proved key, with Castle and Vassell providing strong scoring, and Wembanyama contributing across the board on both ends. The Spurs built an early lead and maintained control despite Miami cutting the deficit to 92–84 at the end of the third quarter.
The victory keeps the Spurs undefeated and places them alongside the Heat and Sacramento Kings as one of the few franchises historically unable to start 5-0 until now. Miami, meanwhile, saw its three-game winning streak snapped and fell to 3-2.
Up next, the Heat visit the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, while the Spurs head to Phoenix for a matchup against the Suns.
