Partizan finally broke their 24-year jinx at Baskonia, securing a 91-79 EuroLeague road win on Friday. The Serbian side overcame a mid-game scare to dominate in the closing stages and improve their record to 3-2.
Carlik Jones led the charge with 18 points, orchestrating Partizan’s offense, while Duane Washington added 17 and Jabari Parker chipped in 14 points along with nine rebounds. Tyrique Jones contributed 10 points and seven boards as the visitors pulled away with a 2-14 run to finish the game.
Baskonia had erased a 16-point deficit in the third quarter, making for a tense finish, but Partizan’s composure proved decisive. The visitors connected on 10-of-18 three-pointers and dominated the glass with 36 rebounds, including 13 on the offensive end.
Luwawu-Cabarrot led the hosts with 19 points, while Hamidou Diallo added 20, but the team could not overcome the visitors’ late surge.
Partizan shared the ball efficiently, generating 19 assists against just eight turnovers.
The victory also served as a bounce-back after Partizan’s 93-86 defeat at Real Madrid earlier in the week. Washington’s mature play down the stretch helped the team execute under pressure and secure their first win at Baskonia since October 2001.
Partizan will now host Paris in Round 6, while Baskonia travels to Crvena Zvezda.
