Thanasis Antetokounmpo has reached an agreement on a one-year contract worth $2.9 million with the Milwaukee Bucks. The deal comes in the form of a veteran minimum salary, which is standard for players with his years of service in the NBA.
The signing not only brings Thanasis back to the team but also reunites him with his younger brother, Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks’ franchise cornerstone.
Earlier in the offseason, Giannis was rumored to be weighing the possibility of requesting a trade, but reports now indicate he intends to begin the season in Milwaukee, making the return of his brother a meaningful move for both family and franchise.
Thanasis is coming back after sitting out the entire previous season due to a torn Achilles tendon. Before his injury, he had carved out a role with the Bucks over five consecutive seasons, becoming a familiar face both on the court and in the locker room.
Across the two seasons prior to his injury, he appeared in 71 games, providing energy and hustle whenever called upon. Beyond his minutes on the floor, Thanasis is widely respected for his presence in the locker room and the positive impact he has on team chemistry.
His close relationship with Giannis is also seen as a stabilizing factor, helping keep the two-time MVP satisfied and focused in Milwaukee.
