Luka Doncic has been grabbing attention this offseason – not for his play, but for his noticeably leaner and fitter appearance. The transformation has sparked enough buzz that he was even asked if he’s been using Ozempic.

During a Wednesday appearance on the Today show, host Craig Melvin directly asked Doncic whether weight-loss injections played a role.

The Slovenian star quickly shut that down, crediting his new physique to clean eating and focused training. He revealed he took an entire month off from basketball to prioritize fitness – something he’d never done before.

Doncic had faced criticism in recent years for being out of shape, and reports suggested the Dallas Mavericks were frustrated with his conditioning. That frustration may have contributed to his trade to the Lakers this past February.

Since then, his transformation has earned widespread praise, including a Men’s Health cover feature.

During a Yankees broadcast, commentators joked he should send the magazine to his old team. Doncic smiled and replied, “They probably saw it. I don’t have to worry about that.”

On the court, he averaged 28.2 points over 28 games with the Lakers last season and is looking to build on that success in 2025–26. He becomes eligible for a contract extension starting August 2.
