Denver Nuggets interim head coach David Adelman confirmed Saturday that forward Aaron Gordon participated in the team’s walkthrough and remains a game-time decision for Sunday’s Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“He fully was part of the game plan—both sides of the ball,” Adelman said. “If Aaron can play, he will play.”

Gordon exited Game 6 late while clutching his hamstring, raising questions about his availability for the series finale.

Asked if Gordon’s involvement was unexpected, Adelman responded, “He’s always the same… very consistent with his swagger. So no, he looked normal. His emotions were good.”

Adelman acknowledged that the coaching staff has contingency plans if Gordon is unable to suit up, similar to how the team adapted earlier in the playoffs when Michael Porter Jr. was sidelined.

“We walked through a lot of stuff today with different people having responsibilities,” Adelman said. “But like I said, the hope is the responsibilities will be Aaron’s.”

The coach emphasized Gordon’s impact when initiating offensive actions, noting that other players would need to absorb that role if he’s unavailable.

With just one day between games, Adelman said the team benefited mentally from the rare two-day break following Thursday’s win.

“We had to get to a Game 7 to get a day. We’re playing a team—an historical team. Sixty-eight wins, the greatest point differential ever,” Adelman said.

Denver will attempt to eliminate the Thunder, who have yet to lose back-to-back games since early April.

The Nuggets’ experience in elimination scenarios could play a role, but Adelman believes Oklahoma City holds the edge.

“They’re the number one seed. They’ve done all these things this season,” he said. “We got to hang early, then rely on our chemistry.”

Jamal Murray, who was sick during Game 6 but still scored 25 points, is expected to be available, though Adelman noted he’s still recovering.

“He’s sick,” Adelman said. “But these guys will load him up. He’ll be ready to go.”

Christian Braun and Peyton Watson may see additional ball-handling responsibilities if Gordon is ruled out.

“CB was kind of our point guard for certain games,” Adelman said. “I trust him to do it.”

Denver’s defensive game plan centers on slowing down Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored 32 points in Game 6.

“You’re just doing the best you can,” Adelman said. “He’s so old school. If he gets to a spot, it doesn’t matter.”

Adelman praised Gordon’s communication in Denver’s zone schemes but emphasized the need for total team execution.

“Bigs are always in charge of communication. The zone is a whole other level,” he said.

Game 7 tips off Sunday at Paycom Center, with the winner advancing to the Western Conference Finals to face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
