Malik Monk scored 28 points, and the Sacramento Kings snapped a four-game losing streak with a 132-122 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.
Monk shot 10-for-17 from the field and added seven assists, while Zach LaVine contributed 23 points and six assists. DeMar DeRozan finished with 22 points, six rebounds, and nine assists as Sacramento improved to 34-33, maintaining its position as the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference.
Domantas Sabonis suffered two injuries during the game, first taking an elbow to the face from Luke Kennard and later rolling his right ankle in the third quarter. He did not return, but the Kings responded by expanding their lead in both instances.
Keegan Murray added 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Sacramento shot 52.3% from the field while hitting 20 three-pointers. The Kings increased their cushion over the Dallas Mavericks for ninth place to two games.
Desmond Bane led Memphis with a season-high 44 points on 15-of-25 shooting, including a perfect 7-for-7 from three-point range. Zach Edey had 12 points and eight rebounds, and Brandon Clarke chipped in 15 points off the bench.
The Grizzlies (43-26) played without Ja Morant for the second consecutive game as they began their longest road trip of the season. Memphis fought back from an early 11-point deficit but couldn’t keep pace with Sacramento’s offensive efficiency.
The Kings finished with 35 assists on 46 made field goals and won despite shooting just 66.7% from the free-throw line. Jake LaRavia provided a key spark off the bench with 12 points, and Sacramento’s ball movement helped offset Sabonis’ absence.
Memphis and Sacramento combined for 71 three-point attempts in a fast-paced matchup. The Kings will look to build on this win as they continue their push toward the playoffs.
