OG Anunoby delivered the dagger, sinking a go-ahead three-pointer with 5.3 seconds remaining to lift the New York Knicks to a thrilling 114-113 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. The Knicks, now 39-20 and third in the East, showcased their resilience in a back-and-forth battle.
Anunoby finished with 19 points, including the game-winner, while Jalen Brunson led the team with 23 points and six assists. Deuce McBride added 17 points off the bench, and Mikal Bridges chipped in 15 for a balanced Knicks attack.
The Grizzlies, led by Ja Morant’s 25 points and seven assists, had a chance to win it at the buzzer. However, Morant’s layup rolled off the rim, and Santi Aldama’s tip-in attempt missed, sealing Memphis’ fate.
Memphis dominated the boards, outrebounding New York 58-35, but their 19 turnovers proved costly. The Knicks converted those miscues into 28 points, offsetting their rebounding disadvantage.
The game was tightly contested throughout, with 10 lead changes in the final quarter alone. New York tied the game at 108 with two minutes left before Brunson and Anunoby hit clutch threes to secure the win.
Mitchell Robinson made his season debut for the Knicks after recovering from ankle surgery, contributing six points and five rebounds in 12 minutes. His presence provided a boost for New York’s frontcourt.
For Memphis, Desmond Bane had 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Jaren Jackson Jr. added 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome New York’s late-game execution.
The Knicks’ victory solidifies their position as a top contender in the East, while the Grizzlies, now 38-21, will look to bounce back as they chase playoff positioning in the West.
