Dennis Schroder, recently traded to the Golden State Warriors from the Brooklyn Nets, is content with his new team but remains open to exploring other opportunities next season.

Schroder, a 12-year NBA veteran, has already played for eight teams throughout his career. While his current contract will make him a free agent next summer, he’s focused on making the most of his time with the Warriors.

Speaking to Marc J. Spears of Andscape, Schroder shared his perspective on his NBA journey. “Twelve years in, I don’t really care no more,” Schroder said. “As long as I’m somewhere where I’m wanted and people appreciate me, that is what I’ve had so far from the coaches.”

Schroder has received high praise from Golden State’s coaching staff, particularly head coach Steve Kerr. “Steve Kerr is one of the best coaches. For him to believe in me like that, everybody in the organization telling me, ‘You kicked our ass the last couple of years,’ that’s great,” Schroder added.

However, despite feeling appreciated in Golden State, Schroder is open to moving on if needed. “If I can stick here, cool. But if not, I will move on to the next city and organization. I don’t really mind. There are 400 people out of eight billion who play in the NBA,” Schroder explained.

Schroder’s perspective highlights his gratitude for playing in the league. “I don’t take those moments for granted. I can play 25-30-35 minutes every night. I don’t care what nobody has to say,” Schroder said. “You played on eight teams. That’s fine. I’m really blessed. I have more money to spend and help my family.”

The 31-year-old point guard has enjoyed a successful NBA career, transitioning from a promising rookie to a valuable veteran role player. His success on and off the court has allowed him to achieve significant milestones. “From where I came from to be able to own a team in Germany, own real estate everywhere, to make my own businesses and play every night on an NBA hardwood floor, it’s a blessing,” he said.

Schroder’s comments come as he plays his first few games with the Warriors. He’s averaged 8.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 4 assists in 27 minutes per game across four appearances.

However, there have been rumors suggesting that Golden State may use Schroder’s contract as a trade asset before the trade deadline, as the Warriors seek to make a splash in the market.
