Dillon Brooks delivered a standout performance with a season-high 28 points, propelling the Houston Rockets to a 116-88 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in an NBA Cup game on Friday night.

Brooks showcased his shooting prowess by sinking six of eight attempts from beyond the arc, tying his career-best for three-pointers made.

Houston’s offense was supported by Tari Eason, who came off the bench to score 22 points and grab eight rebounds, while Jalen Green contributed 17 points. Alperen Sengun added 14 points and eight rebounds, further solidifying the Rockets’ balanced attack.

Houston improved to 12-5 overall and 2-0 in NBA Cup play.

The Rockets’ defense played a pivotal role, forcing 21 turnovers from Portland and converting them into 28 points. They also outscored the Trail Blazers 23-7 in fast-break opportunities, reflecting their up-tempo style.

Portland, struggling on the road, was led by Deni Avdija and Shaedon Sharpe, who scored 13 points apiece. Toumani Camara added 11 points, but the Trail Blazers failed to maintain consistency against Houston’s aggressive defense.

The loss marked Portland’s second straight defeat on their four-game road trip, dropping them to 6-10 overall and 1-1 in the in-season tournament.

The Trail Blazers were hampered by the absence of two key players. Scoot Henderson missed his first game with a left quad contusion, while Deandre Ayton remained sidelined due to a finger injury.

Without their usual offensive firepower, Portland shot just 33% from the field and 25.6% from three-point range.

The Rockets extended their dominant early-season run, with this victory marking their seventh win in the last eight games.

Houston entered halftime with a comfortable lead and maintained control throughout the second half.

Portland’s struggles were evident on both ends of the court. They allowed Houston to shoot 45.2% overall and 38.5% from deep while failing to capitalize on their own opportunities.
