Jordan Poole and second-year forward Bilal Coulibaly have been among the standout performers for the Washington Wizards through the first 10 games of the 2024-25 season, with their stock rising according to Josh Robbins of The Athletic.
Poole, who was acquired in the offseason trade for Chris Paul, has shown flashes of his scoring ability, while Coulibaly has continued to develop into a promising young talent. Both players are demonstrating growth, giving the Wizards hope for the future.
However, Robbins notes that not all players are trending in the right direction. Alex Sarr and Kyle Kuzma, who had high expectations heading into the season, have struggled early on, with their performances not meeting the anticipated level of production.
Kuzma, who re-signed with Washington in the offseason, is still trying to find his rhythm, and Sarr, a highly regarded prospect, has had a slower start than many had hoped.
Despite their tough 2-8 record, Robbins suggests that the Wizards’ early struggles could ultimately benefit them in the long term. The team is in the midst of a rebuilding phase and, as Robbins points out, another high lottery pick in the 2025 draft could be crucial.
The upcoming draft class is expected to be rich with talent, and securing a top pick would provide the Wizards with an opportunity to add another elite player to their roster, helping to accelerate their rebuilding process.
This reality makes Washington’s current position seem more like an opportunity than a setback.
