The New Orleans Pelicans secured a much-needed 101-94 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Friday night in the NBA Cup, snapping a six-game losing streak.

Brandon Ingram led the charge with 29 points, while Brandon Boston Jr. added 19, helping the Pelicans overcome the absence of several key players.

Denver played without three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, who was unavailable for personal reasons. Despite the Nuggets’ struggles, Michael Porter Jr. led the way with 24 points, while Peyton Watson added 18. Jamal Murray contributed 16 points but had an off night, shooting just 2 of 8 from three-point range.

New Orleans came out strong, shooting efficiently from the field. They were particularly effective beyond the arc, with Ingram, Boston, and Trey Murphy III combining for 11 three-pointers. Murphy finished with 17 points, while Yves Missi added 6 points and 12 rebounds in a solid performance.

After the Nuggets had closed the gap to 87-86 with a Russell Westbrook three-pointer in the fourth quarter, the Pelicans responded with a quick 8-0 run.

Javonte Green and Boston each hit key three-pointers to extend the lead, and the Pelicans never looked back.

Denver’s shooting woes were evident as they connected on only 10 of 37 three-pointers, significantly lower than their season average of 40.4%.

The Pelicans were also dominant on the boards, out-rebounding the Nuggets 56-38. This helped them maintain control, despite Ingram twisting his ankle in the second half. He stayed in the game, contributing crucial points and helping his team maintain their lead.

Despite the absence of several key players, including Zion Williamson and CJ McCollum, New Orleans displayed resilience and strong team play.
