The Boston Celtics have added forward Hason Ward to their roster on an Exhibit 10 contract. Jay King first reported the signing, citing sources familiar with the deal.

Ward, a 6-foot-9 forward, gained attention for his defensive prowess and shot-blocking abilities. He spent his college career at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Iowa State, where he showcased his skills as a rim protector.

At VCU, Ward averaged 6.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game during the 2020-21 season. His defensive impact earned him significant playing time, starting 11 of the 26 games he played.

Following his time at VCU, Ward transferred to Iowa State, where he played 28 games in the 2023-24 season. He posted averages of 6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game, contributing to Iowa State’s run to the Sweet 16.

Ward went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft but found an opportunity with the Celtics. The Springfield Central High School alum will now compete for a roster spot in Boston. The Exhibit 10 contract provides Ward a chance to earn a place on the Celtics’ G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics, or even convert his deal into a two-way contract with the NBA squad.
