Following a major roster overhaul with the high-profile Damian Lillard trade last fall and two coaching changes in under a year, the Milwaukee Bucks are optimistic that a 2024 offseason focused on stability will enhance their chances of contending for the championship in 2024/25, according to Jamal Collier of ESPN.
However, ESPN’s Zach Lowe remains skeptical. During a recent episode of NBA Today, he expressed his belief that “the questions outweigh the answers” for the Bucks.
Lowe points out several concerns: Lillard, who turned 34 this summer, struggled to find his rhythm last season, while Khris Middleton has faced injury issues over the past couple of years and underwent multiple ankle surgeries in the offseason.
Additionally, defensive stalwart Brook Lopez will be turning 37 in the spring, raising further questions about the team’s overall durability and effectiveness moving forward.
“This team is getting older and less athletic around Giannis (Antetokounmpo),” Lowe said. “They don’t have a lot of young guys in the pipeline. This is a right-now team that went 17-19 under Doc Rivers before the Giannis injury took them out of the playoffs.
“They just never found their footing, and they’ve got to find it fast in an Eastern Conference that has gotten better top to bottom in the playoff race.”
