Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch expressed concern over the recent performances of star players Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Despite leading the Western Conference, the Timberwolves have faced challenges, with Edwards averaging 19 points on 35.5% field goals and Towns averaging 18.5 points on 40% field goals over the last three games. Their season averages are 26.3 (46.6% field goals) and 22.3 points (50.8% field goals) per game respectively.

Finch emphasized the importance of decision-making, suggesting that both players need to strike a balance between facilitating the game and maintaining their aggressiveness on the court.

Acknowledging Edwards’ efforts in facilitating, Finch stressed the need for him to retain his attacking mindset while ensuring ball movement early in possessions.

“They’re just chasing the game too much. I think they’ve got to pick up their decision-making,” Finch said, per Dane Moore. “I think Ant, for sure tonight, was looking to facilitate. We talked about getting that ball moving early so everyone can touch it. He has to make sure he doesn’t lose his aggressiveness. We still need him to be aggressive.”

Regarding Towns, Finch highlighted spacing issues and emphasized the need for him to find better positioning on the court to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

“I think a lot of KAT’s issues have to do with spacing, just get to better spacing like he was doing a couple weeks ago where he has the shot, he has the closeout,” Finch continued. “Right now, we’re trying to post up in the midrange way too much. It becomes a wrestling match, bogs down the floor. Looking forward to a good film session coming up here after our day off and starting to build things back in a better way.”
