Detroit Pistons rookie Ausar Thompson talked about his recent improved three-point shooting following Friday’s 110-100 home loss vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers (15 points/7 rebounds/3 assists/5 steals/2 blocks/6-11 FG/2-3 3-PT/1-2 FT/+1 +/-).

Reporter: “Two of three for you from three tonight, shooting with confidence. There was even a couple where I saw Stew or Cade telling you to shoot more. With that lineup that you guys have to start games, do you feel like you have to be at least more assertive shooting your shot with you, Stew, Duren, just trying to help space that floor?”

Thompson: “I feel like not just with that lineup, but in general, I gotta be more assertive with shooting the ball. But in that lineup to open up the pick-and-roll, they’re tagging a lot off me, so just being ready to shoot and being confident. It’s something I’m working on, and I’m going to just keep working on it till I get it.”

Reporter: “Do you feel more comfortable shooting the three compared to earlier in the season? It’s been falling a little bit more in the past two weeks since the All-Star break.”

Thompson: “I’ve just been more confident knowing if I get it open, I gotta shoot it, not pass up any shots. Obviously I want to win every game, but a chance to get better, work on me. That’s what I’ve been committed to for probably the past month, so I’m still going to commit to it.”
