After wrapping up the season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Mo Bamba became an unrestricted free agent, and he ultimately made the decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 25-year-old center, born in the United States and of Ivorian descent, recently shared that his choice to sign with the 76ers was significantly influenced by the reigning MVP, Joel Embiid.

“Jo was probably the biggest in recruiting me,” Bamba told Ky Carlin of Sixers Wire. “Everyone else was like, ‘Hey, it would be nice to have you,’ but Jo was probably the biggest.”

He recounted his discussions with Embiid during the free agency period. “It was just a conversation that came up in passing,” Bamba explained.

“We revisited the conversation, and he was like, ‘Listen, I’m not telling you where to go. At the end of the day, you’re in charge of your own career, but it’d be good to have you in the city.'”
