DeMarcus Cousins urges Joel Embiid to lose weight

Former NBA standout DeMarcus Cousins has weighed in on Joel Embiid’s physical condition, advocating for the reigning MVP to shed some pounds to prevent further injuries.

Cousins emphasized the toll that carrying excess weight can take on a player’s body, especially considering the demanding nature of the NBA season.

“He’s gotta come down in weight. It’s hard to play at 300+ pounds every night, the wear & tear will get the best of you,” Cousins remarked on Bully Ball podcast, offering his insights on Embiid’s situation.

Embiid, listed at 280 pounds or 127 kilograms, has faced ongoing concerns about his weight and its impact on his health and performance on the court.

Despite managing to return from a lateral meniscus injury in his left knee just before the playoffs, Embiid faced another scare during the first-round series against the New York Knicks.

Tweaking the same knee, Embiid’s durability came into question once again, prompting discussions about the importance of managing his weight for long-term health and success.

However, Embiid’s resilience and determination were on full display in Game 3 against the Knicks, as he erupted for a staggering 50 points to propel the 76ers to a crucial victory.
