San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan has raised eyebrows with his unconventional one-handed free throw shooting technique, a move that was inspired by none other than Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.

Sochan, the ninth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, made the switch to shooting free throws with just one hand during his rookie season. In a recent interview on Sessions, he shed light on how the idea came about.

“Happened out of nowhere, really… I was with coach [Brett] Brown working on my shot, and we would do one-handed stuff, and I would go on like streaks of just making a bunch of one-handed shots,” Sochan explained.

“And then coach Pop is like, ‘Yo, come here.’ And I’m like, ‘What’s up, coach?’ And he’s like, ‘You’re shooting one-handed.’ Straight up.”
