Zalgiris Kaunas reached an agreement with center Ian Vougioukas to work together next season, the club announced Tuesday. Vougioukas (2.12 meters, 30 years old) arrives from ratiopharm Ulm, where he averaged 13.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 18 German League games last season. He started the 2014-15 season with Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul, averaging 2.4 points in 9 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games before joining Ulm. Vougioukas has also played for Unics Kazan of Russia, as well as for Panathinaikos Athens, Olympiacos Piraeus and Panellinios Athens of Greece. He helped Panathinaikos win the Euroleague title in 2011, also lifting the Greek League trophy that season and adding a Greek Cup crown in 2012. Vougioukas has also been in two other Final Fours – with Olympiacos in 2009 and Panathinaikos in 2012. He also helped Unics lift the Russian Cup trophy and reach the Eurocup finals in 2014, as well as reaching the Eurocup semifinals with Panellinios in 2010. Vougioukas has also been a member of the Greek national team.
