Former NBA luminary Gilbert Arenas is making headlines for his candid assessment of Team USA’s squad bound for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.

Arenas, known for his unfiltered commentary, didn’t hold back, labeling the national team lineup as a “sorry ass group” and later describing it as an “F team” in an episode of Gil’s Arena.

Arenas elaborated on his grading system, comparing the World Cup roster to the plethora of NBA talent available. He contextualizes his assessment, stating, “We can say as a group this is probably what – F list compared to what we have? … Okay, here’s a D… Compared to all the players in the NBA that you could put together?”

Drawing distinctions among his grading tiers, Arenas classifies select players as “C” and “B” groups, with the likes of Jimmy Butler, Jaylen Brown, Devin Booker, Zion Williamson, and Ja Morant occupying these spots. While he acknowledges that Anthony Edwards could potentially slot into the “B” or “C” tier, Arenas emphasizes that Team USA’s lineup falls short.

“When we’re talking about C, we’re talking about, like, Jimmy Butler, [Jaylen] Brown. That would be considered a C group… [Devin] Booker would be what? Booker would be B? Zion Williamson – that’s the B group. Ja Morant – that’s the B group. So this is an F group compared to what we have,” Agent Zero said.

“Only Anthony Edwards would be out of this group. Only Anthony Edwards would be put into the B or C group. Most likely B,” Arenas added.
