The 76ers sweeping the Nets in the first round of the playoffs could be helpful for Joel Embiid who is dealing with a sprained ankle.

Philadelphia’s players, including Embiid, got extra days of rest. According to NBA insider Shams Charania, there is hope that the Cameroonian center will be able to start the second round series.

“There is optimism that he’ll be able to play in Game 1 of their next series… He had a sprained knee and I think they believed this is about a 1 week injury,” Charania said on FanDuel TV.

Embiid averaged 20 points, 11.3 rebounds and 4 assists in 36 minutes per game in the first round of the playoffs.
