Donte DiVincenzo has become an important piece for the Warriors, especially in absence of Andrew Wiggins. The 26-year-old shooting guard has started 32 times for Golden State this season.

He has a player option in his contract for next season. So it will be up to DiVincenzo to decide if he wants to remain with the Dubs for another year.

Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr is very open when speaking about the player’s future. He wants the former first-round pick to stay with the defending NBA champions.

“He almost went to Detroit, I think, and then he decided to sign here,” Kerr said. “And the whole idea was to rebuild his own place in the league. He had a great start in Milwaukee and then the injuries the last couple of years set him back. This has been a wildly successful year for Donte, re-establishing his place in the league, re-establishing his value. Obviously we hope we can keep him. We desperately want to keep him.”

This season DiVincenzo is averaging 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 26.3 minutes per game.
