Marcus Smart, last year’s Defensive Player of the Year, is one of the best defenders in the NBA. And he also often gets into foul trouble.

Most recently the 29-year-old point guard picked up four personal fouls in 22 minutes of play in the Celtics’ win over the Trail Blazers.

After the game he was asked about the constant foul trouble that he gets in. Smart replied by referring to a recent postgame interview of Fred VanVleet who blasted the referees and will have to pay a hefty fine for that.

“I don’t know if you guys seen Fred VanVleet’s interview,” Smart said, per Garry Washburn. “That’s all I’m going to say. That lets you know I’m not speaking out of my butt. I’m gonna let Fred do all the talking.”
