The Lakers were one of the teams making offers to the Nets for Kyrie Irving, but it was the Mavericks that won the race and acquired the superstar point guard.

LeBron James, who reportedly wanted to re-unite with his former teammate with whom he won a championship in 2016, posted a cryptic tweet after the news about Irving’s trade broke out.

“Maybe It’s Me,” the four-time NBA champion tweeted. And while it is a speculation that the tweet is related to the trade, some of those who replied to it certainly thought that it was.

It was the second time that the Lakers failed to make a deal with the Nets to get Kyrie. Prior to this season, when Irving also requested to be traded, there was interest from the Purple and Gold, but the player remained in Brooklyn.
