Utah Jazz guard Collin Sexton will be sidelined for at least a week after sustaining a right hamstring strain, the club announced on Thursday.
Sexton took an untimely exit on the Jazz’s 124-123 nail-bitter win on Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors due to the said hamstring injury. He went on to finish with 17 points in 27 minutes of play.
With his absence, Utah will have another dent in their ball-handling depth. Thankfully enough, veteran starting guard Mike Conley is expected to return on Saturday vs. Minnesota Timberwolves after missing nine-straight games due to a left knee strain (h/t ESPN’s Tim Bontemps).
Sexton, 23, was acquired by the Jazz on a package that saw Donovan Mitchell landing in the Cleveland Cavaliers as a return. As a restricted free agent, he eventually inked a four-year, $71 million contract with the team brass to complete the sign-and-trade pact.
The former Alabama star is averaging 14.3 points, 3.0 dimes, and 2.4 boards in 49.3 percent shooting for the sixth-seeded Jazz.
