Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard will miss their Wednesday game against the Golden State Warriors due to a right ankle sprain, sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Back in the Clippers’ Monday game against the Utah Jazz, Leonard tweaked his ankle late in the final frame which stirred anxious feelings for the L.A. faithful. Right at the post-game, Leonard and coach Ty Lue made it known that situations were good amid an injury scare.
As such, the deactivation may obviously suggest the Clippers’ cautious efforts to preserve him this season.
The season is still at its young stage, but Leonard is, unfortunately, being swarmed again by plenty of injury concerns. He only appeared in five games so far, averaging 10.0 points, 4.0 boards, and 3.4 assists in fully restricted 22.4 minutes for the Clips.
The two-time Finals MVP was shelved for the entirety of the 2021-2022 season as he recovered from the partial ACL tear he sustained in the second round of the 2021 postseason against the Jazz.
Amid his extending absences, Los Angeles still has nothing to be worried about their current status in the league, establishing an 11-7 card that is good enough for the fourth-best record in the tight Western Conference.
