The Kevin Durant saga is over by the looks of things, yet a general manager from an Eastern Conference team reckons the Brooklyn Nets could still move the wantaway superstar.
Last week, the team announced that the parties had “agreed to move forward with our partnership,” implying Durant no longer wishes to be traded. But said GM has shed some light on the situation with claims that the player could still be traded if things don’t work out.
“I think the Nets simply told him, ‘There’s not a deal we’re happy with, and we’re not just going to give you away,'” he told FOX Sports. “I think he’ll still get moved by the trade deadline if it doesn’t go well. That may have even been part of the deal, a soft agreement that they’ll move him if it’s not working.”
A source at another team expects that things could still blow up in Brooklyn, which should result in Sean Marks calling other teams with the aim of offloading Durant.
“I don’t want to put my best offer out there now when I’m calling them,” the front-office executive was quoted as saying. “I want them to call us. The second time around, if KD says, ‘Get me the f— out of here,’ that’s when they’ll be calling. That’s when I want to be a buyer.”
