Another pressing health issue has come over in the Bay Area, as James Wiseman is officially out of the 2021-2022 season. After experiencing pain on his right knee following the three-game performance for Sta. Cruz Warriors, the franchise didn’t hesitate to shut him down for any possibility to make a debut this year.

Right after the decision came out on Friday, head coach Steve Kerr explained what is the primary factor for shelving the sophomore pro out of Memphis.

“We’re just protecting James’ future, and it makes the most sense to go this route, and again I just feel terrible for James.” (h/t ClutchPoints’ Mark Haynes)

Wiseman had plenty of setbacks in his young career in the NBA. It was in April last year that he opted to have a surgery to fix his meniscus. Now, since he is set to miss the whole season, it is certainly beneficial in a long-term viewpoint for both him and the Warriors to stick around rehabilitation and development.

The second-year pro delivered promising showings in his brief stint in the G League, wherein he had an average of 17 markers and over 9 boards in three games. He is literally a talented piece that Golden State can invest on in the future with Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

As such, reports about the Dubs looking for a back up big in the market is now on the watch list, as starter Kevon Looney needs aid in the impending war within the West in the postseason.

Golden State sits at third in the West with 48-25 while still waiting for Steph Curry to come back before the season ends.
