For the second time in his career Erik Spoelstra will be coaching an NBA All-Star team. The path to the prestigious selection was quite bumpy though.

It took a while for the Miami Heat to climb to the top of the Eastern Conference this season. For most of December Spoelstra’s team was between the 5th and 4th place in the East.

In a recent interview the 51-year-old coach credited the Heat players for his success this season.

“I remember in the beginning of December when we were back in the standings, it seemed like a little bit out of reach, but guys continued to grind. It’s been a unique season because of all the revolving doors, and I just really commend our group.”
