The city of Los Angeles will always have a special place in Lou Williams’ heart.
And if he ever gets a chance to return and represent the Clippers for the second time around, it’ll certainly mean a world to him.
When asked if he is good for a reunion on both sides, the 35-year-old Williams told Clutchpoints’ Tom Azarly in an interview that he is willing to grab the prized opportunity.
“Absolutely,” Williams said. “If it makes sense, absolutely. Like I said, I have no hard feelings towards nobody. Obviously, I’ve still got great relationships here, so if it makes sense for both parties, we’ll do it.”
Last season, the Clippers dealt Williams to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Rajon Rondo. Serving as a backup and vocal mentor behind star Trae Young, he was a crucial member of the team’s unthinkable deep postseason run last year — reaching the conference Finals until coming up short against the eventual champion Milwaukee Bucks.
In his return to LA on Sunday, after the Hawks landed in Crypto.com Arena for a marquee regular season matchup, Clippertown faithful showed all the love and admiration for their former main man. As it is, the three-time Sixth Man of the Year winner will always be thankful for the memories he had with the fandom.
Who knows what will happen in the future, but seeing Williams donning the Clips’ jersey again and being back on the place he belongs are truly uplifting as a basketball fan.
