Ben Simmons was expected to get traded this offseason, but the Philadelphia 76ers are holding firm to their high asking price for the three-time All-Star.
Simmons informed the team he will not attend the training camp and the Sixers are expected to issue a fine in case their star forward does not report with the rest of the team, per Tom Moore of USA Today.
Moore suggests that Philadelphia will not give up Simmons for picks, while they would want one of roughly a handful of specific players in a potential trade.
It is widely reported that the Sixers are hoping to receive a James Harden-type of package in a potential Simmons deal. As a result, they are just waiting for a chance to trade for an All-Star caliber player, like Bradley Beal or Damian Lillard.
On the other hand, Simmons has no intention of helping the 76ers find a good deal. The Australian star is also not expected to show up in the Sixers’ training camp, although he could be fined more than $1 million for skipping.
