The Los Angeles Lakers returned from the All-Star break by winning three games in a row as they defeated the Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves. With 27 wins and 13 defeats, the reigning NBA champions occupy third place in the Western Conference.

According to Derek Fisher, who won five championships as a Laker, the team is winning games and playing quality basketball even without Anthony Davis and Marc Gasol because they had an opportunity to rest theirs minds during the break.

“When this team is defending NBA champion, it’s more fun to write about what they don’t have or what they’re not as opposed to what this team still is,” Fisher said on Spectrum SportsNet.

“I believe the team understands where they are, the difficulties they faced this season, how the injuries have set them back. They believe that they’re still the best team in basketball.

“As they get more fresh, which they’ve showed, to start the second half of the season, I think they will be able to show those things out on the court. and not as concerned about the chatter. Again, paying attention to Rob Pelinka and Kurt and the way they’ve made decisions over the last couple of years, I don’t think they’re gonna be in a rush to do something big that they think will be disruptive.”
