Karl-Anthony Towns shared an emotional message, after playing his first NBA game since his mother passed away. Towns lost his mom earlier this year due to complications of COVID-19.

After Minnesota’s first game since March, Towns spoke recently of how tough it’ll be to play knowing she’s not there to watch him. That did not change after tonight.

“That Karl died on April 13. He ain’t coming back. You’re talking to the physical me … That man you’re talking about from April 13 or before, I don’t know him. He ain’t there,” Towns said on a question about the team’s game-to-game mindset compared to previous seasons.

Towns put up 22 points along with 11 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Timberwolves to the win against Detroit in the season opener.

Before the game, both teams held a moment of silence for Jacqueline Towns.
