Houston Rockets’ Eric Gordon says he will be coming off the bench for the team, while Danuel House Jr. will be in the starting lineup.
“I’m fine with either or. I’ve been telling every coach since I’ve been here I really don’t care as long as we win,” said Gordon. “I know if I come off the bench I’ll have more of a chance to have the ball in my hands.”
In his four seasons with the Rockets, Gordon, 31, has started less than half of his total games played (113 out of 248) in his sixth man role.
House, meanwhile, is expected to be the team’s starting small forward, according to head coach Stephen Silas.
“I reserve the right to change that if necessary,” said Silas. “I like House because he can guard the best player on the other team, he’s a spacer, he kind of can live off what James [Harden], John [Wall] and [Christian Wood] do and then having Eric’s veteran scoring, defending punch off the bench in a more featured role kind of makes sense to me.”
Last season, House, 27, averaged career-highs across the board with 10.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game on 30.4 minutes per game.
With the final starting spot named, the Rockets starting lineup will be made up of John Wall, James Harden, House, P.J. Tucker and Christian Wood.
